Advice & Rules For Being A Game Sense Guru

There's a few simple rules and suggestions for being accepted into the Game Sense Guru program.

  1. Honest & Natural Posts

We know you're eager to grow your channel or website, but these things take time, and it starts with writing quality content that people like. Asking for subs or asking for help is not the most effective way to grow your channel or website. The best way is to provide really awesome content that gets people's interest and gets them to first watch the video. Asking for subs, likes, etc before they even read or watch will not help you!

  2. Cover Lots of Games

On of our goals is to build a giant database of what games are good or not, independent of age, genre, or platform. It doesn't matter if you love to talk about obscure retro games or some really niche genre, but we want to see a decent range of games posted about.

  3. Care Put Into Posts

This will help everyone, but you should be putting some care and effort into your posts. While the minimum post length isn't very long, you should strive to go above and beyond it. We want to help you grow your gaming channel, website, or career as a journalist or reviewer, but we need your help in making sure you're writing posts that really get reader's attention and gets them to watch videos and click on links.

  4. Desire To Get Better

Wanting to make better videos, improve your website, or become a better writer is something you should always work towards. We're looking for gamers who know their stuff, and are working on making things better!

  5. Don't Link Too Much

Adding a ton of links won't help, you should always remove them even if auto-fill adds them from your description. Only a few specific domains will be left, most will be auto-removed.

  6. Don't Ask For Subs

Asking for subs before someone has watched your video is one of the worst ways to gain subs. It's always more effective to write a post that encourages people to read your post, and then ask for them to sub if they enjoyed your video at the end, and possibly start, of a video.

You can always apply manually, or if Game Sense Staff likes your posts, you may become a Game Sense Guru through staff recommendation.

Frequenty Asked Questions

What Games Can I Talk About?

Talk about any games you like! We believe that there are a lot of gamers out there with nothing to play, and there's a ton of amazing games those gamers haven't played yet. It's mostly because other gaming sites aren't doing their jobs, and we believe gamers are the only ones who can properly do it.

So, we're more or less leaving everything in your hands and trusting you to show gamers what's good or not.

How Big Does My Channel or Site Have To Be?

We don't care about size, only the quality. A really cool channel or website covering some really cool games in an interesting way, but hasn't really taken off yet, is way better than some generic huge site or channel covering the most popular games.

How Much Do I Have To Post To Not Lose My Status?

You can post once a year, or every day. It's all up to you. We're not about to take something away from a cool gamer just because they haven't been as busy making stuff as they were in the past, or if they just don't have time to make a lot of content. Quality is always better than quantity, but if you can make a lot of quality content, that's cool.

How Much Should I Post?

We recommend only posting at most 10 things a day. It depends on how much content you make, but we recommend posting the work you feel the most confident in. That could be every video or article, or it could be once a month.

Our only request is that you don't "take over" Game Sense with your own content. As Game Sense continues to grow, we'll allow you to post more and more of your own stuff. We just don't want some gamers overpowering some of the ones that can't make videos or articles as quickly.

How Do I Get Accepted?

Just write some quality posts. If you're posting videos, make sure they're cool videos. If it's a website, make sure it's got cool articles.

You can always apply manually, or Game Sense staff may automatically make you a Game Sense Guru if we're really impressed with your work.

Which Posts Get Featured?

All of your posts. If you don't like that, we can change it in the future. But generally, we're looking for the best stuff from the best gamers we can find, even if you're not in the Game Sense Guru program.

Can I Be Removed?

Yes, you can be removed from being a Game Sense Guru, at the staff's discretion. Your account may lose Game Sense Guru status for any reason, though we haven't revoked it from anyone yet.

Some things that can get you removed from being a Game Sense Guru includes: excessive vulgar language, spam, etc.

Can I Post Adult or Hentai Games?

Yes, but keep your Game Sense posts free of explicit adult content. Always err on the side of caution.

Can I Quit The Game Sense Guru Program?

Yes, email us and we can remove you.

How Long Does It Take To Be Approved?

It can be anything from a few minutes to a few days. We want to aggressively grow the Game Sense Guru program, and it's still very new, so we'll be much more lenient in letting people in for now.

It should not take more than a day or two to be approved. If you haven't heard anything back from us, please send us an email.
