Schema Updates, Bug Fixes, & New Features

It's been some time since we let everyone know what's been going on at Game Sense regarding development. We've been pretty busy with things, so we felt it's time to finally let you know what we've been up to.

Most importantly, we updated the schema for storing reviews and news posts and did some massive optimization. Our testing showed we were spending significantly less time in the database when creating a page, which is where our main bottleneck was. It also allowed for some new features to be created, and to be created in the future. In the short term, we lost a few features, temporarily, but they are mostly coming back as soon as possible.

We moved to a new server for our main server, it's significantly faster and can handle far more load.

There was a problem giving out achievements since we moved to the new system, but it has been fixed if you are reading it. Your achievements for writing posts will update the next time you write a post. Your impression achievements will update in the evening when they are calculated. Ratings achievements and some other ones were still functioning normally, there was some issue when we updated the post schema.

Game Sense Radio has been renamed Game Sense TV. It now shows all videos from video reviews, as well as embedded videos in news posts. Game Sense TV will play all of these videos in a playlist, starting with the newest ones. While you are watching the video, you can vote on the video and if you agree with the review topic. Voting on the video will change the game's score that the video is for.

There are now previews when you go to vote, review, or rate that will show you how much you will change the score. Remember, the higher your rank and level, the more affect you will have on scores.
