High Resolution Pack 3 has been released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone on consoles, bumping up the detail of the in-game visuals, but asking you for another slice of hard drive space in the process. Weighing in at 8.4GB on PlayStation, the pack adds “the most detailed textures for weapons and Operators” in Modern Warfare and Warzone. The optional texture pack is available for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S generation and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation of console, though it is recommended only for the mid-gen PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, as opposed to the base consoles. In fact, you will only be offered the install option on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with users getting a prompt when they next log into the game. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One lpayers will not receive a prompt. Instead they will need to navigate to the Game Installs menu to manually download and install the high resolution texture pack. It’s not all that clear why such an install would be necessary, especially when Call of Duty games have come in for a lot of criticism over just how big their installs have become. Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season 2 went live last week with a set of large updates for the three concurrent games, but it came with the unusual warning from Activision that if you have Modern Warfare, Warzone and Black Ops Cold War installed on the base PlayStation 4, you would not have enough room to install the updates. The advice is to take advantage of the games’ modular nature to uninstall various modes that you do not want. This is found in the same Game Installs section as the optional high resolution texture packs, letting you remove the single player campaign, zombies and other content, and trim the game down in size a little. Of course, you need to have installed the full games before you can then go and uninstall the parts you don’t need, which is a tad inconvenient. via The Express
