Conquest Of Elysium 5 Review

Conquest of Elysium 5 is a fast-paced fantasy strategy game with a rogue-like element. The game is rich in detail, as well as creatures. There are several factions to choose from, each with its own gameplay and magical rituals.

The Conquest of Elysium series' major focus is on how each race plays differently. We're not talking about a one-of-a-kind structure here or a one-of-a-kind unit there; we're talking about totally distinct playstyles, each with its own set of rules and objectives. Perhaps you're a druid whose main goal is to build a huge forest and jungle empire from which to gather materials to call woodland animals, with no need to capture mines. Perhaps you're a dwarf whose sole priority is to mine and manufacture troops at a predetermined pace every turn, focusing almost solely on improving those units to ensure that they live as long as possible due to their rarity. Perhaps you're a Scourge Lord, whose power pyramids suck Elysium's life energy and channel it to him and his Heralds. With 24 distinct factions to choose from, you'll never be bored as you compete for control of the map in order to conquer Elysium.

Four new planes to interact with, boats and ports that allow players to travel to islands beyond Elysium's main continent, three new factions, new rituals and summons for existing factions, new battle maps for various fortifications, new independent factions that fight each other, new monsters, and more and different random events are all included in the 5th version of Conquest of Elysium.

There are 10 distinct planes in Conquest of Elysium 5. There is, for example, an Infernal plane, which is home to devils and demons. So, if a demonologist succeeds in summoning a demon lord, a dark citadel without its ruler will be engulfed in flames. Instead of permanently murdering a devil, banishing it will return it to inferno. Although exceedingly tough, storming Inferno and defeating a demon lord on that dimension can permanently destroy a demon lord. Despite the fact that there are several planes, you will only need to visit them on rare occasions. However, they continue to operate in the background, amplifying the excitement of specific acts or random events. The sky-realm above Elysium is one of the new planes in CoE5. Flying armies may descend from the clouds to attack the people of Elysium, only to ascend to the air and flee if they suffered severe losses. However, the clouds are not inaccessible. Ground-born armies can ascend to the skies thanks to beanstalks, rainbows, and lofty mountain spires.

Most factions begin with a random collection of rituals and battle spells, which, when combined with the random terrain, ensure that no two games are alike. If you have the proper resources and discover the right locations, you can learn more rituals and spells during the game. Random events, such as bountiful harvests and robbers, as well as the portals of the underworld coming into Elysium, must be dealt with in addition to the hostile animals of Elysium. Before you ever make contact with the opponent, your hands will be full.

Conquest of Elysium 5, in true Illwinter form, is more of an upgrade than a sequel. A more fleshed out plane system (realms that players may battle on, similar to 3d chess) has been added to the aged coe4, as well as a better Ui, more item management, more obfuscating terrain, and steam workshop support. New fortifications and combat maps provide a great deal of diversity when it comes to viewing conflicts. Players can now begin in particular worlds, similar to the subterranean system in Heroes of Might and Magic 3. These are significant qualities, and they are greatly valued. The visuals have been changed somewhat. The new landscape seems attractive, although it may be a matter of taste.

However, Conquest of Elysium 5 is plagued with a slew of old faults. When they can avoid it, the Ai nevertheless succumbs to a single deer. Granted, a mod boosting beginning positions with immovable troops would probably help, but it's still a bummer when you want to play a competitive battle. As far as I can tell, AI team members are still jerks who would rather steal your stuff than put on a front. Not to add that dealing with independents makes the game much more tiresome. The player will have to devote a large number of troops to swatting small groups of units in order to prevent them from taking your belongings, which may be taxing. Some factions, such as the Voice of El and the Troll King, are still better in this sense, since they use massive armies of Ai-controlled minions to complete boring chores. Nonetheless, I believe that all factions should be able to fend off modest attacks in an automatic manner. I'm sure there are still some old class faults.

One little gripe I have is that in order to return to the main menu, you must resign. In single player, this is acceptable, but hotseat loops through each faction's turn, murdering all players before allowing you to leave.

Fun, adorable pikmin kobolds, sky snobs, and defilers are the new factions. The fact that illwinter will continue to update the game and introduce new concepts for free is a major advantage. The modding community for this game has always been modest, but I'm hoping that the workshop will increase interest.

Overall, I'm still having fun with Conquest of Elysium 5. Conquest of Elysium 5's more class-based aspect appeals to me. In comparison to dominions, you feel more like a necromancer in a role-playing game, than than waging a risky war. Despite the game's simplicity, you may role play a little. Losses are more important in Coe than in other games since each unit is valuable, making battles more entertaining to watch. This is a good one for new gamers to buy on sale, as it is coe4 and better than some. In the earlier version, you are not missing out on anything.
