The game follows a possessed lamb who was saved from death by a stranger named 'The One Who Waits', and must repay their debt by creating a loyal following in the strangers name.
Cult of the Lamb is a rogue-like adventure game which is centered around growing your cult to appease the ominous stranger who saved your life. The player is tasked with starting their own cult in a land of false prophets and must venture out into various mysterious regions in order to grow their following and spread their Word to become the one true cult. You are able to change their appearance and accept both their negative and positive traits which will impact your cult. The resources that they gather help you create structures for your cult's base and their worshipping allows you to upgrade your abilities. There is importance around keeping your cultists happy by providing them with food, shelter, and maintaining the cleanliness of your cult so that they don't get sick. If their needs aren't met they are able to turn against you and try to persuade other followers that you are a false prophet and leave your cult. While maintaining your cult's base you will also be tasked with destroying the non-believers that are spread throughout the randomly generated world. By fighting off hordes of enemies and defeating rival cult leaders and followers you are able to absorb their power and assert your cult's dominance throughout the five mysterious regions. As your cult gains more followers you are able to expand your cult's village, have your followers assist you in battle, and pray to The One who Waits to increase its power.
Cult of the Lamb is developed by Massive Monster, an independent game development studio that has also created The Adventure Pals, Never Give Up, and Unicycle Giraffe.
