Developer Behaviour Interactive have outlined their plans to expand Dead By Daylight cross-play, extending the feature to current generation consoles. Having touched on cross-play during their recent Dead By Daylight livestream (in which they also unveiled the new Silent Hill DLC) Behaviour Interactive have finally shared some more details, while also addressing cross-progression and cross-friends integration. Firstly let’s talk about cross-play. This feature already existed between the Steam and Windows versions of Dead By Daylight. In a future update, PC players will be able to join those on Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, connecting all five platforms. The obvious benefit here is a wider selection of players queuing in the same matchmaking pool meaning that it shouldn’t take as long to jump into matches. Typically, PC players have a more favourable advantage thanks to the availability of keyboard and mouse controls though this only tends to be the case in reflex-focused first person shooters – it shouldn’t make much of an impact in Dead By Daylight. There is no confirmed launch date for PC/console cross-play though Behaviour hope to flip that switch “before the first snow, in Montreal”. It’s also worth pointing out that the mobile version of Dead By Daylight will not join its cross-playing counterparts. As for cross-progression, there’s good news and bad news. Behaviour announced that the PC, Google Stadia, and Nintendo Switch versions will be able to chase in-game purchases, progression, and inventory by creating a BI account. The team is pushing for this feature on other platforms though cannot guarantee PS4 and Xbox One users will get cross-progression any time soon. Dead By Daylight isn’t the only asymmetric horror game currently available on PC and consoles. There’s also the recently released Predator: Hunting Grounds (which scored a decent 6 out of 10 in our review) as well as Friday the 13th: The Video Game, both from the same developer. Here you can read our face off between Dead By Daylight and Friday the 13th when the games both launched back in 2017. Source: Dead By Daylight
