Death Stranding played using treadmill controller

www.thesixthaxis.comWhether it’s beating Dark Souls on a dance mat, using Donkey Kong Bongos, or even actual bananas, gamers continue to conjure up weird and wacky ways of playing popular titles without touching a controller or keyboard. This latest experiment is perhaps a little more on brand. YouTube inventor and engineer, Allen Pan, decided to build a customised treadmill that would allow him to play Death Stranding by actually walking and running. The fifteen minute video sees Pan taking apart a treadmill then wiring it to a DualShock 4. By walking on the treadmill, it sends a signal that replicates the player holding down the right analogue stick to move the game’s rambling protagonist, Sam Porter Bridges. Pan also shows what happens when he runs, his increase speed triggering the Sam’s sprint action. The custom made controller was part of an experiment to encourage exercise during play. For a game that has you spending hours roving huge open spaces on foot, it’s certainly a great idea though its implementation isn’t very precise. The game was updated to version 1.10 earlier this week – here’s what the new patch does. Death Stranding won our overall Game of the Year 2019 award, closely followed by Control, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Resident Evil 2. It also picked up gongs for Best Narrative, Best Single Player Game, and Best PlayStation 4 Game. In our review, Tuffcub scored Death Stranding a masterful 10/10, stating: Death Stranding is like nothing I have ever played; beautiful, heart racing, heart breaking, frustrating, epic, stunning, and utterly nuts. I laughed, I cried, I cursed, and I went to the toilet an awful lot. Death Stranding isn’t just my Game of the Year, it’s a contender for Game of the Generation too. Currently, Death Stranding is only available on PlayStation 4. However, just days before launch, Kojima Productions confirmed that their debut AAA title will also be coming to PC in summer 2020. This version of the game will be published by 505 Games. Honestly, just wait until you see the mods.
