Hands On: Dragon Quest XI Is a Really Refreshing Return to Japanese RPG Greatness
With its turn based battles, classic Dragon Quest music, and delightful art style, Dragon Quest XI is a joyous return to the good old days. Except now, it's wrapped up in some lovely looking modern graphics, and incorporates a number of quality of life improvements to bring the overall package up to speed.
I hope I'm not reading too much between the lines, because this makes it sound like this preview of Dragon Quest XI is difficult and hardcore like a traditional JRPG. In a world where games are constantly being dumbed down and "streamlined" to reach a broader audience, this preview is giving me some hope that Dragon Quest XI will provide a serious challenge and hit those JRPG nostalgia buttons just right.
And the best part is, the graphics seem of high quality. It feels like when we normally get a throwback JRPG, there's low quality graphics or there's some sort of odd art style choice (like Octopath Traveler)
