Age Rating Explained

Escape From Tarkov lacks an ESRB rating, instead relying on the Australian rating of 18+. If you're wondering what that equals in other age rating standards, it's not that bad.

Australia has two 18+ age rating designations, R18+ and X18+. R18+ is often confused for Adult Only ESRB or PEGI 18. Escape From Tarkov is not an adult game. Australia's Department Of Communication and the Arts specifies X18+ as having sexual intercourse and other sexual activity between consenting adults.

Australia's R18+ age rating includes sex scenes, drug use, violence, etc. Which matches up much better with the ESRB M rating or PEGI 16.

So, Escape From Tarkov's age rating is equivalent to an ESRB M or a PEGI 16. It is not an adult game, and it's quite easy to think that 18+ age rating means it has sexual nature.
