A great addition to this game is the Mark Hunting mechanic. Each bar has a board with monsters that are wreaking havoc that must be hunted, these serve as mini-bosses which one hunts for rare-items and a reward. It really feels like one is a bounty hunter and each succesive rank becomes harder making strategy and planning a must to fell some of the rarer and harder creatures. While some hunts are necessary to progress the story, most of them are completely optional. Add to that the varied and extensive bestiary, it really makes the world feel alive. Very few monsters are palette swaps or recolours. There's also a neat chaining mechanic where if one kills the same monsters in sucession, rare-drops and bonuses are awarded.
