Guide: Metro: Exodus - Everything We Know So Far

One of the biggest changes is going to be a shift to a more open world. I think this fits the Metro universe extremely well and will open up a lot of really cool experiences in the game.

The fact that the game will take place over an entire year, and you get to experience the seasons will be really interesting. I don't recall any open world games that will let you experience the seasons. Obviously you get day and night cycles in Metro Exodus too.

Metro Exodus will take place in Eastern Russia, which opens up the setting to have Chinese, Mongolian, and more influences since Eastern Russia is so close to them.
