Development Update on Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch

While I think this is good news that Retro Studios is now working on Metroid Prime 4, it's very bad that development is restarting all over again. A applaud Nintendo for restarting development of a game from scratch if they're not happy with the results. Most developers and publishers would have just shipped it and "fixed" it via paid DLC.

Restarting development of Metroid Prime 4 at this time is bad news if you're looking forward to playing Metroid Prime 4 any time soon. Metroid Prime 4 was announced two E3s ago, it was probably well developed and close to completion. For Nintendo to throw all that out, I wonder how they didn't realize the game wasn't good enough before that. At this rate, we should see Metroid Prime 4 in two or three years, unless Nintendo does something to get Metroid Prime 4 shipped faster than that.

Do you think the Metroid Prime 4 will be worth the wait? It's going to be a good three, four, or even five years after it was announced before we see Metroid Prime. I personally have a lot of respect for Retro Studios, they are the original developers of Metroid Prime series after all. Though I'm left wondering why Nintendo didn't just go with Retro Studios from the start and saved some time in getting Metroid Prime 4 released.
