Mordheim: City of the Damned video game

Difficult Tactical RPG set in the rich Warhammer Universe

0

Mordheim is a great take on the tactical RPG genre. Instead of being confined to a grid like many games in the genre, Mordheim takes a different approach, allowing players to explore the streets of Mordheim in third person with their characters in order to find your enemies, and more importantly, Wyrdstone (a break from the canonical Warpstone of the Warhammer lore).

Gameplay is solid. One difficulty, and you're always playing Ironman mode. Not a game for people without a fair bit of experience in the genre. The dice rolls can sometimes be infuriating, especially when characters continually miss on 80+ dice rolls. However, this seems to balance out with stretches where it seems like your characters are gods. The game could use a few more mission types, but the three main mission types are very well thought out, and feel a lot more varied with the different maps and starting conditions.

Voice acting is hit or miss with Mordheim. Some factions feel well-executed, but others could use some work.

The plot lines are pretty good, with plenty of Warhammer lore to draw from.

All in all, I'd give Mordheim a solid 4.5/5. It's an excellent game, and worth checking out if you enjoy tactical RPGs.
