Life Forms Can Make No Sense

I don't understand what this monstrosity is. It's a giant animal that looks like a kangaroo flying with butterfly wings. And it looks like something has crawled up its butt that clearly doesn't belong there. The procedural life forms are a big "selling point" of this game, but if it creates abominations like this that aren't even remotely realistic, what's the point? It looks too similar to something in real life to give you the feeling of finding something new. And the fact that it's basically a few real life things stitched together, it doesn't make it feel like an alien life form. It looks like a genetic experiment gone completely wrong.
