Plague Inc. tops the UK charts as the Coronavirus continues make headlines

Earlier this week we reported that Ndemic Creations virus simulation game, Plague Inc., jumped to the top of the charts in China, Russia, and other countries across the globe as the Coronavirus dominated the headlines. It appears Brits as just as morbid as the rest of the world as the game is now at the top of the UK Charts. The full weekly chart has yet to be published by data gatherer Reflection but a quick check on their website has the game at number one. The seven year old game’s popularity has surged as people across the globe simulating the current outbreak. The bad news is it does not end well for us. Such is in the interest in Ndemic Creation’s game that their website has been crashing and they have had to release a statement warning people not to use the game as a tool to simulate the Coronavirus. The Coronavirus outbreak in China is deeply concerning and we’ve received a lot of questions from players and the media. Plague Inc. has been out for eight years now and whenever there is an outbreak of disease we see an increase in players, as people seek to find out more about how diseases spread and to understand the complexities of viral outbreaks. We specifically designed the game to be realistic and informative, while not sensationalising serious real-world issues. This has been recognised by the CDC and other leading medical organisations around the world. However, please remember that Plague Inc. is a game, not a scientific model and that the current coronavirus outbreak is a very real situation which is impacting a huge number of people. We would always recommend that players get their information directly from local and global health authorities. You can find out more about the CDC and Plague Inc. here: You can find out more information about Coronavirus here: Gamers have also been startled to discover that there is a biological research lab near the city where the outbreak originated has a familiar logo. Shanghai Ruilan Bao Hu San Biotech Limited seems to be linked to the Umbrella Corporation from Resident Evil. You can read our full review of the game here.  Source: Reflection
