It was released in May 2003, with a port to Microsoft Windows released in October of the same year. Silent Hill 3 was mostly well received by critics, especially in its presentation, including the environments, graphics and audio, as well as the overall horror elements and themes that are continued from past installments. Gameplay in Silent Hill 3 resembles closely that of its two predecessors, the three main gameplay elements being Combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Combat, as well as exploration, takes place in third-person view, with the player able to equip weapons found throughout the game.
