Fun to explore
You dig down in Steamworld Dig 2, a lot. It's sort of like a 2d minecraft, but you have a purpose instead of just aimlessly digging and exploring. There's a lot of hidden secrets, like artifacts to collect and rare minerals you can exchange for currency, which you then use to buy upgrades so you can dig more. There are also dungeon type things with puzzles to solve, and solving them gives you special items that help you get upgrades.
I have been poking around for a while, and it really feels like whenever I head off to dig somewhere, I usually find something for my efforts. There's nothing I dislike more than spending time and effort in a game to try and get to a difficult place, only to find nothing.
