super metroid offers non-linear exploration and allows you to break the sequence of how you're supposed to unlock new items and abilities. There's a ton of secrets to find some of them are extremely well hidden. Most importantly, exploring is usually highly rewarding by giving you more weapon capacity, new weapons, or new abilities.
