Super Robot Wars X to release on Switch in Asia with English support how to play it
Super Robot Wars X is coming to the Switch with English subtitles. This is great news, if you're as excited as I am you'll want to know how to get your hands on it.
Thanks to the Nintendo Switch not being region locked, playing Asian releases of games is as easy as can be. No need for any sort of mods or tricks.
When Super Robot Wars X releases on January 10th, 2020, playing it outside of Asia is as simple as creating a Japanese eShop account and purchasing it in the Japanese eShop.
To make a Japanese Nintendo, simply visit http://accounts.nintendo.com to create a new account. But when you do, select Japan as your region.
Then, you'll create a new user on your switch and link the new user to the new Nintendo account you made.
Log into the new account you made and head on over to the eShop. Everything will be in Japanese, but all the locations of the buttons and menus are the same. This is the most difficult part, but it's not necessary as you can buy a physical copy from Amazon or an importer like Play Asia and not deal with the Japanese eShop.
If you import Super Robot Wars X, you'll probably have to pay a bit more than the direct exchange rate. Your credit card company may charge additional fees than the standard price. Which is why a physical copy, while it may cost more, is worth it.
That's it! Playing Super Robot Wars X on a non Asian switch is that easy.
Super Robot Wars is a series that's always struggled to have an official Western release. There are a lot of licensing issue which typically prevent Super Robot Wars X from releasing in the USA. This is typically due to different localization companies having licensees for series that normally have one company in charge of them. sometimes we get one, but it's usually pretty rare.
While it may seem like a disappointment to have to navigate the eShop in Japanese, or to pay extra for an imported game, these are extremely easy ways to get Japanese games on a non Japanese console, this is a lot easier than it's historically been.
I'm excited to get my hands on Super Robot Wars X. Thanks to the Nintendo Switch not being region locked, it's as easy as ever to play Japanese import games.
