A Digital Copy Of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Will Use Up Over Half Of Your Switch's Memory

+1

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is going to use a lot of storage space if you grab the digital copy? How much you ask? Well, a lot, half of the Nintendo Switch's onboard storage (32GB).

You can add more storage with memory cards, but that's still a lot. I mean, it's a fighting game, is it really 16GB? There has to be a ton of hidden content they're not telling us about if the game is that big. This is either really good news, and evidence the game is loaded full of content beyond just all the characters. Or it's bad news, and there's some optimization issues or something funky going on.

No doubt the game will get patched, a lot. Anyone who played Smash 4 Wii U knows that the game saw a ton of patches, specially that affected the loading time of the game. We'll see what this all means, but I'm really, really hoping that it's a lot of single player content, similar to Subspace Emissary, to make up for the weak single player modes that Smash 4 had.

If this were another publisher and developer, I'd be worried about the size. But Nintendo usually does a good job without resorting to bloat. So I'm really optimistic that there's something interesting that's using all that space that we haven't heard about yet.

What do you think it is? I hope it's something like large single/coop maps a la Subspace Emissary, but worst case it's more like a bunch of videos or poorly compressed audio.
