Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Announced for Switch, has Every Previous Character, Launches December 7

+1

The highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. game for Nintendo Switch has been revealed as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Every single fighter from the previous games, including Snake, Pichu, Ice Climbers, and Wolf, is present, making it one of the the biggest crossovers in gaming history. Gameplay has seen a major overhaul, focusing on speed and complexity.

The base game play seems like it's the same, but they've really polished Smash Bros Ultimate on Nintendo Switch up a lot. The new version includes features like Final Smashes being shorter, more movement options, harder penalty for roll spam, harder penalty for spamming shield, and more.

This seems like a very nice incremental improvement over Smash 4 as far as the Smash Bros game play is concerned. The full roster being here is awesome, specially for fans of characters who have been cut from games in the past. Personally I've been a huge fan of Star Wolf and Ice Climbers, and seeing them get cut was very disappointing. But they are back, every single character from a Smash Bros game. That includes third party characters characters like Snake, Pac-Man, Megaman, Cloud, etc.

Will Nintendo announce more characters for Smash Bros Ultimate? It seems likely, they've numbered the characters in the stream, and stated there's 66 fighters, but they only listed 65 fighters. We'll have to see if they announce more before the December 7th, 2018 release date of Super Smash Bros Ultimate or not, but 66 characters in a fighting game is already a lot. Remember that Smash Bros 4 had 7 DLC characters, it's possible the number of characters in Smash Bros Ultimate could top 70.

Even then, I'm still hoping out for some more characters to be announced in the next few months. Some of the new character additions that were announced at E3 2018 include Inklings and Ridley.

This version of Smash Bros should be great, watching the Treehouse stream where they finally showed off game play and stopped with technical stuff, it seems a bit faster than Smash Bros 4, but not as fast as Melee.

Nothing was announced for single player mode. I know a lot of people were disappointed in the Smash Bros 4 single player modes. Many people aren't fans of Smash Bros Brawl, but at the very least it did have a single player mode I enjoyed.

More details are definitely coming for Smash Bros Ultimate, but so far I'm really excited for what's happening and to see if more characters are announced. I'm really interested to see what has been changed with online play as well as single player campaign.
