Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Sakurai Details the Music & Soundtrack Creation Process
Some interesting details about the music and audio in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Most importantly, there's currently over 800 songs in the game, not including smaller songs like victory themes.
Not all franchises in Super Smash Bros Ultimate will have their music represented equally. Mainly, it seems like third party sound tracks have some licensing issues, and can get expensive, so expect a lot of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate soundtrack to consist of first party Nintendo music.
Sakurai has also worked on talking to new composers and working with them for the music. This is great news, because it sounds like there's not going to be that much recycled music. Most importantly, Sakurai has been pushing for music that can really get your heart moving in battle, trying to get them excited and motivated.
Music is a huge part of Super Smash Bros, it's the only game where you can get so many sound tracks from so many hugely popular video game franchises.
One thing of bad news seems to be a lot of Fire Emblem music. I had enough Fire Emblem in Smash 4, hopefully it's not too forced.
Other than that, Super Smash Bros Ultimate sound track sounds like it's going to be awesome and something to look forward to.
