The Ascent: How to Beat Megarachnoid

0

Megarachnoid is the first big monster you'll encounter in The Ascent. This gigantic mechanoid spider is no laughing matter; it's a tough nut to crack, especially if you enter the fight unprepared. It is armed with flamethrowers, machine guns, rocket launchers, and, of course, spiderling minions. Furthermore, the combat takes place in a remote region, making it difficult to return to the main city and prepare properly if necessary. Despite this, this is one boss battle in The Ascent that you will remember, so let's see how you can deal with it the easiest way.
In The Ascent, how can you defeat the Megarachnoid?

First and first, we must state a general truth. In The Ascent, every mechanoid and robotic foe is susceptible to energy weaponry. You may not have noticed any difference up to this point, but there are many different sorts of adversaries, and mechanoids are only one of them. Shooting them with a standard impact weapon will not do much damage, but striking them with an energy weapon will do much more damage, finishing fights in seconds. While the Megarachnoid combat will not take only a few seconds, employing Energy weapons is critical since it drastically reduces the time spent in this encounter.

Furthermore, the huge spider isn't the only thing to be concerned about; the spiderlings it produces are a major impediment as well. The spider scatters eggs over the area, and if not treated quickly, they hatch into little, mechanoid baby spiders. These can swarm you extremely quickly, thus energy weapons will do quick work with them, which is why they are so vital.

This fight's strategies are straightforward. Continue rolling to escape Megarachnoid's AoE strikes, and concentrate on eliminating spiderlings as they spawn. Shoot at Megarachnoid whenever you are not performing any of the above, and you should be OK. That being said, your weapon selection is critical in this fight, and two are highly suggested. The E77 Superior and ER Chrome Puncher are two examples.

The first is an energy assault weapon that you may come across when fighting robotic foes in the region where Megarachnoid resides, and it is excellent for dealing with the small spiderlings. The latter is an energy rifle, which should be your primary goal because it can be purchased from a merchant in Cluster 13 before entering the area where you battle the gigantic spider. This means you can take it and improve it straight away, which is also recommended, to make things a lot easier when you get to the boss fight. Upgrading it to Mk.4 should be enough to significantly simplify the fight, and because it's a rifle that can be used in any situation until you find a stronger one, it'll most likely wind up being your primary weapon for a while. As a result, don't be afraid to invest some materials in it because it will be well worth it.

And there you have it, all you need to know about the Megarachnoid battle. Equip your most powerful energy weapons, kill young spiders, and DPS down the giant baddy while avoiding its predictable assaults. Destroy it and go to the next route to obtain the unique Augmentation that allows you to generate spiders for yourself, leaning towards a ‘summoner'-like build.

The Ascent is available on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows platforms. For additional information on the game, please see the remainder of our guides right here.
