Gameplay has a lot of hand holding

I don't know how I didn't expect this. But a lot of the gameplay really holds your hand. Climbing on rock ledges is mostly just moving the stick in the general direction and carelessly pressing X to hold on. It's not challenging, and it sort of pulls you to the right place. There's not really much of a failure condition. I'd even say it's similar to a quick time event. Except there's no timing to it and you don't have to do it quickly. The core mechanic of pressing a button and making something developers think is cool happen is there, but it's simplified a bit.

The previews made this game look like you'd be in control, swinging, climbing, doing all sorts of really cool stuff. But there's hardly any skill involved, it's a whole bunch of developers hand holding you.
