There are several levels the player is required to complete. In the game the player is cast as a member of the "Active Lancer Corps".
The player can play as the Latin tribes, the Celts and the Romans. In 2006 an expansion to Legion Arena was released under the title of Legion Arena: Cult of Mithras.
