The story isn´t a deal-breaker though, just keep in mind its not supposed to be taken seriously like the first entry in the series..
Once you read the mid-game, you´ll pretty much have no problem fighting monsters or run of the mill enemies since they do not vary a lot.
Meaning if one does not play carefuly some units will never come back...
Each job has a solid variety of skills meaning one can make a tailor-made party for certain situations.
Some of the themes this game explores are the value of human life, equality and social relations.
Rayman 2 is the first 3D entry in the series and has seen a variety of ports, however, the gameplay remains the same (not counting the GBC version).
Obtaining the 1000th Lum is possible.
There are also minor changes like a stat-screen appearing when feeding the chao in the NGC (and subsequent versions) and the introduction of a Black Market.
The character animations are slighyly better than the first entry in the series, yet still leave much to be desired.
The dreamcast is the only one that suffers from a bad camera as the controller lacks a 2nd analog stick.
