Android Version 3 and Social Features Coming Soon

Posted By on October 4th, 2021

Greetings everyone. We wanted to let you know that we are working on some pretty big features for GameSense. We are going to be massively improving notifications for gamers you follow and games on your backlog. Currently, you'll only really get notified when a game on your backlog is posted about. The upgraded GameSense will allow you to get notifications about game ratings, posts, comments on posts, new summaries for games, when games are added to user lists, and when games are nominated for contests. You will be able to not only control which notifications you receive, but for how each game is on your backlog. For example, you can only get posts for games you follow and are playing, while ignoring posts for games you've dropped or completed. Each category of notification will be completely under your control, and you can choose if you get the notifications in the Android App, email, or just on the GameSense.co website.

Follower Updates

You will now be able to send those same notifications to people who follow your GameSense account when the update drops! So you can keep up with gamers. Our goal is to give you something more valuable that lets you interact far more than just sharing videos and comments. We want to make GameSense a place where you can meet other gamers, find cool games to play together, and to talk about video games. Part of all of this is knowing what kind of gamers are out there and what games they like.

Sister Projects

GameSense is a specialized platform. We all believe that the big internet websites lack specialization for what they're covering. GameSense is meant to help you find games you'll enjoy, and give you the tools you need to find the good ones to keep up on. While it was always designed to be focused around video games, we really wanted to make something adaptable that could be used for other similar things that gamers usually like.

Now that GameSense has been around for a while, and we've been able to get a lot of the major development completed, we are going to be expanding and bringing the same sort of features people like about GameSense (tracking releases, following games, rating individual parts, etc) to other things. Please stay tuned, once the notification system is up and running by the end of the month, we will prepare to launch our first sister site, and we are planning on more. Each sister project will have a website and an Android app.

We will keep you posted. We have some RL stuff coming up for the next week or two, and we don't want to make major changes like that while we'll be busy in real life. GameSense has always been a hobby for us, one born of passion and thinking gamers deserve better than generic blogs and generic subs, something accessible that gives everyone access.
